Gord’s short courses

Short Course featureI put on a couple short courses every year. Please contact me today about a short course for your team or class….

Courses are customized for your mine or mines, interests of the group, and can be held at the mine site, at our BGC offices  or any site in between. Courses are typically run for 8 to 80 people, but any number can attend, courses typically run 1 or 2 days and include handouts.

We work through the basics, state of practice and the state of the art, case histories, and have one or two exercises — real (but simplified) cases where teams of 3 to 6 put their learnings into action.

Available short courses

  • Closure planning and landform design — a broad introduction
  • Landform design for mine reclamation — more detailed and focused on dumps, tailings, and end pit lakes
  • Successful reclamation — so much more than the technical and operational know-how
  • Sustainable mining NOW
  • Oil sands tailings and tailings technologies
